The Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education housed in the Kinesiology
and Rehabilitation Science (KRS) Department is nationally accredited by the Council
for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The Teaching/Coaching Licensure
(TC) program is a part of the College of Education and Health's (CEH) professional
preparation program curricula approved by the Arkansas Department of Education. Our
TC curriculum develops teachers of Health and Physical Education who are competent
in the design and implementation of effective K-12 programming that promotes 21st
century health and physically literate individuals. TC students observe Health and
Physical education teachers and students in urban and rural public-school classrooms.
The TC curriculum culminates with a year-long (two semester) internship in Arkansas
public schools. In the internship, TC students partner with innovative teaching partners
who provide TC students with real-world experiences in teaching, classroom management,
and coaching. TC students emerge from their internship as practitioners capable of
applying content knowledge, curriculum and instructional design, classroom management,
and assessment strategies.
