Being a part of the Department of History and Political Science is more than taking classes. It’s a chance to be part a collaborative community that supports your success. From research skills workshops to public speakers, Constitution day tailgating to volunteering in elementary schools, we always have something on the calendar.

Scholarships and Prizes
Every year, the department recognizes student achievements with foundation scholarships and paper prizes for HPS majors. Applications are due every spring.
Pre-Law Society
Are you thinking about attending law school after you graduate from ATU? Hear from law professionals, get help preparing for law school admissions, and more.
Phi Alpha Theta
The national academic honor society for high-achieving university students, Phi Alpha Theta promotes the study of history through research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of ideas.
The Washington Center
Every year, we send around 10 students to participate in a funded week-long seminar in Washington, D.C. Students can also apply for semester long internships for up to 12 college credits.
History Club
If you are interested in obsessing over history outside of the lecture hall, come join us in the history club! Make connections and friendships with like-minded individuals in a more relaxed environment.
