If you think you have a substance abuse problem, don’t be afraid to ask for help. An online screening is available on the Counseling Services website. This might be a good place to start if you’re unsure. To begin the screening, simply navigate to this website: https://screening.hfihub.com/atu.
Another option is to call the Health and Wellness Center to schedule an appointment to visit with one of our five licensed professional counselors. Discussing personal situations with friends, family, and others can be helpful, but sometimes these people care so much about your well-being that they become over-involved and lose their objectivity. Personal counseling may offer a different perspective and help develop new strategies and solutions. Counseling services are free to currently enrolled Tech students.
You can make an appointment by calling 479-968-0329 or you can also schedule an appointment online at https://atu.medicatconnect.com/. The Health and Wellness Center is located in the Doc Bryan Student Services Center, Suite 119.

Licensed counselors conduct a group-based intervention twice monthly for students who have violated the campus alcohol policy. The group is based on evidence-based principles borrowed from Motivational Interviewing and Motivational Enhancement therapy to curb irresponsible alcohol use. As a result, students will develop their intrinsic motivation to make beneficial changes with regard to their drinking behaviors.
Counselors will deliver the intervention in two parts: First, students will complete a structured assessment followed with individualized feedback from counselors regarding drinking behaviors. Next, the students will attend a group meeting in which they collaborate with their peers to elicit and support motivation to engage in responsible drinking.
If you have questions or are interested in this group intervention, please contact Hunter Bramlitt, AOD Coordinator/Counselor, by phone at 479-968-0329 or via email at jbramlitt@atu.edu.
