The Department of Teaching and Educational Leadership offers an associate's degree program, three undergraduate programs leading to Arkansas teacher licensure, one graduate program leading to Arkansas teacher licensure, and a number of advanced programs for endorsement, adding education licenses, and for non-teacher licensure. The Teacher Education program at Tech has a long history of preparing teachers and is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) (formerly NCATE).
Associate of Science in Early Childhood EducationThe curriculum provides a foundation for learning among students younger than primary school age. It covers all areas where knowledge is needed for the Child Development Associate assessment. |
Bachelor of Science in Elementary EducationThe curriculum provides a foundation for teaching Kindergarten to 6th grade. Advanced work through courses, field experiences, and teaching internships are required within the program to meet teacher licensure expectations. |
Bachelor of Science in Middle Level EducationThe curriculum provides a foundation for learning from 4th – 7th grades with options to choose two of four possible subjects—Mathematics, Science, English Language Arts, and Social Studies. |
Bachelor with emphasis in Secondary EducationThe program recognizes three important components in the education of a prospective teacher: a strong general education, an in-depth knowledge in a selected teaching field, and a knowledge of the school, various diversity and developmental characteristics of students, and the teaching-learning process. |
M.Ed. - Teaching, Learning, and Leadership -New Teacher Leader NTLThis program is designed to prepare candidates for a degree, and eligibility for Arkansas Department of Education licensure as a curriculum leader. Authentic classroom experiences, representative of daily situations school leaders encounter, are integrated into courses. |
Master of Arts in TeachingThe Master of Arts in Teaching is a program of study to prepare candidates for teacher licensure in Arkansas. Candidates who complete the program of study may be recommended to Arkansas Department of Education for licensure as teachers. |
