Dr. Nathan Mensink

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MUSIC

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Nathan Mensink is assistant professor of music and teaches saxophone at Arkansas Tech University. He is a Henri Selmer performing artist active in both classical and jazz styles and is a frequent soloist with bands, orchestras, and community groups. He was recently featured with the Morehead State University Symphony Band at the 2022 KMEA conference and has previously soloed with the Utah State University Wind Orchestra, the Utah Valley University Symphonic Band, the Frost Chamber Orchestra, the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra featuring singer-songwriter Ben Folds, and the USU Alumni Band under the baton of legendary conductor Colonel Arnald Gabriel.
 
Mensink has participated in the premiere of a few dozen works, many of which were featured at events such as the World Saxophone Congress, the International Navy Saxophone Symposium, the College Music Society Conference, the International Trombone Festival, and other festivals. In addition to participating in professional events, Mensink strives to be involved in the local community and fervently advocates for music education. He regularly visits band programs in the region to perform with the students, give lessons, or answer questions about pursuing music as a career. 
 
Prior teaching appointments include positions at Morehead State University in Kentucky and Palmetto Middle School in Florida.
