ENGL 0303: Composition Workshop
A composition workshop that complements and supports instruction in ENGL 1013 Composition
I.
May be repeated for credit.
Note: The grade in ENGL 0303 will be recorded as pass or fail. The hours earned in
ENGL 0303 may not be used to satisfy general education requirements nor provide credit
toward any degree.
Note: A student who is placed in ENGL 0303 must register concurrently in an assigned
section of ENGL 1013.
ENGL 1013: Composition I
ACTS Common Course - ENGL 1013
Prerequisite: Score of 19 or above on English section of the ACTE; 500 or above on
the evaluation based read/writing section of the RSAT; 251 or above on the writing
section of ACCUPLACER; or a grade of C or better in ENGL 0303 or BST 1003.
A review of grammar, introduction to research methods, and practice in writing exposition
using reading to provide ideas and patterns.
Note: A grade of C or better must be earned in each of the two composition courses
used to satisfy the general education requirement of English.
Note: May not be taken for credit after successful completion of ENGL 1043.
ENGL 1023: Composition II
ACTS Common Course - ENGL 1023
Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in ENGL 1013 or 1043.
A continuation of ENGL 1013 with readings in poetry, fiction, and drama.

synthesis of the most useful elements of traditional, transformational, and structural
