The course of study will involve selected scenes from standard opera literature prepared for dramatic presentation. Research will be required pertaining to the historical setting, appropriate costumes, and mannerisms of the period being studied. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is the premiere wind-performing ensemble at Arkansas Tech University performing a balanced mix of traditional and new repertoire. A study of current practices, methods, and materials for teaching general music to elementary school children with emphasis on curriculum development and diversity in the classroom.

MUS 4000: Capstone Recital

Prerequisite: Six semesters or major applied study and permission of instructor.

Co-requisite: 3000 level applied instruction on major performance instrument or voice for 1, 2, or 3 hours credit.

A culmination of applied study, the capstone recital is a public exhibition of technical skills and artistic self-expression on repertory in the major performance area.
